Hollr Owner Guide
Everything Hollr does for your business, in plain English: how you show up, what each plan includes, how events, deals and insights work, and how to be found on Google and by AI assistants.

What Hollr does for you
Hollr is Alabama's local events and business directory, in a free app and on the web. People use it to find something to do tonight, somewhere to eat, or a local business they can trust, and your business can be one of the places they find.
- Your page: your own page in the app and on thehollrapp.com with your description, hours, photos, contact details and, on Hollr Pro, your menu or services.
- Explore and Home: people browse businesses and events by county, category and what is popular.
- Ask Hollr: an AI guide in the app and on the website that recommends real local businesses and events when someone asks a question.
- Search engines: your page can be found on Google and Bing, and by AI assistants.
- Followers: people can follow your business, see your deals and get your events.
Your plan and what it costs
There is always a free way to be on Hollr. Hollr Pro adds the tools that help you get customers.
- Free: a business listing and up to 3 upcoming, one-time events at a time. Free listings do not publicly display phone numbers, email addresses, websites or social links.
- Hollr Pro Monthly: $40 a month, with your first 30 days free. A card is optional during the free month; with no card by day 30 you simply return to Free and stay listed.
- Hollr Pro Yearly: $400 a year, paid up front. That is two months free compared with paying monthly.
- Founder: $20 a month for the first 100 businesses, with a Founder badge. You keep that price for as long as you stay subscribed.
- Super Founder: $180 a year (that is $15 a month, paid once a year) for the first 22 businesses. You get a Super Founder badge and priority for website featured spots during your original first year.
- Legacy member: the original $15 a month members keep that rate for as long as they stay subscribed and wear a Legacy member badge.
How billing works
- New monthly plans without a free-month trial renew on the 1st (Central time). If you join before the final 7 days of the month, you pay a prorated amount for the time until the 1st, then the full price on the 1st. Existing subscriptions keep their current billing dates.
- For a new monthly plan without a free-month trial, joining in the final 7 days of the month means you pay nothing until the 1st, then the full price. The cutoff depends on how many days that month has.
- Hollr Pro Monthly with a free month renews on the date your free month ends. Yearly plans renew on the date you joined.
- You can cancel any time in your dashboard. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- You will see the exact dates and amounts next to the pay button before you pay, and Stripe handles the payment. Hollr never sees your full card number.
Your badge and the 30-day safety net
Founder, Super Founder and Legacy member badges show on your profile for as long as you keep your rate.
- A missed payment or the end of a cancelled subscription starts one 30-day recovery window. Scheduling a cancellation does not start that window immediately; your paid period finishes first. The badge is paused during the recovery window.
- Hollr emails the address on your listing one private link that restores your spot at your original rate. The link only works for your business and stops working after 30 days or once it has been used.
- If the 30 days pass, the rate and the badge end for good and cannot be restored.
Set up your page in 10 minutes
- Add a clear main photo and a logo so people recognize you.
- Write a real description in your own words: what you offer, who you serve, what makes you different. A few sentences is plenty.
- Fill in your hours, including days you are closed.
- Choose the category that best fits what you do.
- Add a phone number, website or social links so people can reach you.
- On Hollr Pro: add your menu or services with prices and short descriptions, and up to 5 product photos.
Events
Posting events is one of the best ways to get found. Events from your business appear in Explore, on Home, on your page and in Ask Hollr when they fit what someone asks.
- Post an event from your dashboard with a title, date, time, place and a short description. Add a photo and a ticket link if you have them.
- Events from an approved business go live right away.
- Free plan: up to 3 upcoming events at a time, one-time events only. A spot opens up when an event passes.
- Hollr Pro: unlimited events, including repeating ones such as every Thursday trivia.
- Tip: put the specific thing in the title, like Live music with the Jones Brothers, so people and AI assistants can tell what it is.
Deals
Deals are a Hollr Pro tool. They reward the people who follow your business.
- Create a deal in your dashboard. Followers see it on your page and can claim it.
- Your dashboard shows how many people have claimed each deal.
- Tip: keep a deal simple and specific, such as a free drink with any entree this week.
Today's Spot and posts
- Today's Spot is a Hollr Pro tool that puts what you are doing right now, like today's special, in front of people who are looking.
- Posts let you share news with your followers. Posts are a Hollr Pro tool and are reviewed before they go live.
Insights: what the numbers mean
Insights show what people do after they find you. The Free plan shows your page visits. Hollr Pro shows the full picture.
- Page visits: how many times your page was opened, and how many different people that was.
- How people found you: where the visits came from.
- What people did: taps on call, book, directions and other buttons.
- Mentioned by Hollr's AI: how often Ask Hollr recommended you, and how many people tapped through.
- Deals claimed and event opens and saves: how people responded.
- New followers: people who chose to follow you.
- Menu: which items people saw and tapped the most.
- How to use it: if people open your page but never tap anything, improve your photo and description. If your menu is tapped more than anything else, put your best items first.
Ask Hollr: how you get recommended
Ask Hollr is an AI guide in the app and on the website. When someone asks for dinner ideas or something to do this weekend, it uses real Hollr listings. A paid plan does not guarantee a recommendation: location, relevance and available listing details still matter.
- A complete listing helps: description, hours, category and photos.
- On Hollr Pro, a menu or services list with short descriptions and prices lets Ask Hollr match what people ask for, like wings or a massage.
- Events with clear titles and descriptions help Ask Hollr suggest them for the right night.
- Ask Hollr suggests eligible places near the event or person and tries to avoid repeating businesses. A reply can feature one eligible verified Hollr Pro business with richer details, or mention up to three eligible Free businesses.
- The AI can be wrong, so keep your hours and details up to date.
The Popular tag
A business can be marked Popular based on recent profile views from different devices, new reviews and new followers over the last 30 days. Reviews and follows carry more weight, and a minimum score and relative ranking apply. It is not a badge you can buy.
Hollr Pro menu items can be marked Popular based on taps from at least 3 different devices in the last 30 days, with at least 4 items on the menu. Only a limited number of the most-tapped items qualify; meeting the minimum alone does not guarantee a tag.
SEO and AEO in plain English
SEO means being found on search engines like Google and Bing. AEO means being the answer when someone asks an AI assistant, such as Ask Hollr or other AI tools, a question like where can I get good wings in Oxford.
Nobody can promise a ranking, and it takes weeks for search engines to notice changes. What you can do is give them clear, honest, complete information.
- Approved business profiles with a public, canonical Hollr address are eligible for search indexing on both Free and paid plans. Complete, accurate descriptions, locations, hours and photos help people understand your business, but are not a required checklist for indexing an approved business profile. Google and other search engines decide whether to index it.
- Say what you do in plain words and name the things people search for: your food, your services, your town.
- Keep your name, address and phone number the same everywhere, on Hollr, your website, Google and social media.
- Keep hours and menus current. Out-of-date details lose trust with people and with AI.
- Post events regularly. Fresh, specific pages are easier for search engines and AI to recommend.
- Reviews and followers help. Ask happy customers to follow you and leave a review.
Reviews and followers
- Customers can leave reviews on your page. You can report a review that breaks the rules and Hollr will look at it.
- Followers get your events and deals. More followers means more people who see what you post.
What's new
- New plan names: Hollr Pro Monthly and Hollr Pro Yearly, plus Founder, Super Founder and Legacy member.
- Claim your business: if your business is already listed, claim it with a code sent to the email on file.
- A new look, a new logo and an animated launch screen.
- Ask Hollr now tunes its picks to the interests a person has chosen.
- Billing on the 1st for new monthly plans, with the exact amounts shown before you pay.
- The 30-day safety net and private link for Founder, Super Founder and Legacy members.
- Clear emails from Hollr, with your options and what happens next.
What's planned
These are plans, not promises, and the order can change.
- Claiming and managing your business from the website.
- Featured placements, sold on the website.
Your information and privacy
- Your public listing shows business information according to your plan and Hollr's privacy rules. Free listings do not publicly show phone numbers, email addresses, websites or social links. Only provide contact details intended for business use.
- Ask Hollr saves questions and answers under a random chat code, not your account identity, and deletes them after 90 days. Avoid including private or sensitive information in your questions, since the question text itself is saved.
- Read the full Terms of Service and Privacy Policy on the website.
